Self Portrait-The Yeosu Menace

Finally, after a month or so delay, I got my new camera tripod that I ordered from It gathered dust up in Seoul for about 5 weeks before I finally decided to track it down. After several phone calls, the delivery company got it here in good shape. Although it’s a cheapie, it has some good reviews, and it seems to be a pretty stable piece of equipment. It’s a Dolica Proline AX680P104 and you can read reviews at Amazon and elsewhere.

So, what does one do with a new tripod when one is hibernating because he hates the winter cold and wind? Simple. Take some photos of oneself in his cave (apartment) using the new tripod.

Here are a few shots I took last night using various colors reflected from the background screen on my laptop, which is to my right, to add a bit of mood. What shall I title these? Creepy Old Man? Portrait in Blue? Old Man’s Last Stand? They were fun to do, but the moody look on my part doesn’t reflect my true, innate, bubbly outlook on life. 🙂

This was interesting to play around with, so I’m sure I’ll post more self portraits at times. Stay tuned.

  1. I must admit – a striking resemblance to photos of the UnaBomber of Lincoln, Mt. fame! You could be the UnaProfessor, notorious as you are, Ron!! Just kidding – good to see you’re having fun with your new toy and a hearty hello from back home!. By the way, you really must return to the US for a visit soon. I just saw a picture of your mother in the Trib today; Part of the oldest team to participate in the Women’s City Tournament. Take a look at the Tribs web site, if you’ve not already see it. Ken

Hi, Ken. Hey, thanks for the, uhhh, comparison. LOL And many thanks for the info about my mother. I did look at the Trib site and there she was in the recent bowling column. I’ll have to send her a congratulatory email. I won’t mention her age, but she’s 20 years older than me and I’m . . . well, never mind. Great to hear from you and thanks for keeping up with the blog.

  3. You are welcome, but you forgot to indicate when your upcoming trip home was. The reason I’d like to know is that I seem to recall its your turn to buy lunch and I think you’re more than a few years late!! I’ll be having your same (never mind) B-day in a couple of weeks, so believe me, I now what senior citizenship feels like. Glad I could pass on the info about your Mom – good to see she’s still “whackin em” at her age. Godspeed!

  4. Well, now, if you two old-timers are finished trying to remember how old you are! Ron certainly does have that Ted Kasinski look, but it also reminds me of a recent zombie scare we had in Great Falls (emergency alert!). And I’m with Ken, wondering when Ronaldo will be coming stateside again (if ICE will let him in).

Peace to all in the world.
